BLENDtw is his Gen Z leading community covering college life, health and culture. It took her over a year for her SEO efforts to gain traction, but Solis now runs a seven-figure company.
“I used up all my savings and spent about $10,000 on hiring all these writers and making the publication more beautiful,” she explains. “I didn’t understand why I wasn’t as popular as I was with one story four months ago. I started to realize I was doing something wrong. The world of publishing. I was doing everything wrong because I didn’t know how it worked, and I realized I was completely lacking in SEO, so creating content that ranks on Google has certain guidelines that you must follow… I applied all that framework to my website and it took off: 10,000 monthly readers turned into 10,000 daily I started making $10,000 a month consistently with ad networks and went to $100,000 with affiliate marketing.Once I figured out how to use it, the website became popular.”
Growing up in Peru, Solis knew he wanted to work in the media. She attended college in America and upon her graduation she applied for her program on the NBC page. “From these conversations,” Solis said: First of all, Gen Z and young people don’t consume mainstream media. They have a very interesting relationship with it. They probably believe YouTubers more than they believe named anchors. I realized that there was this mistrust, but at the same time they felt that their story was not accurately represented, which is why his BLENDtw, which means blend the world, was born. . It’s just a grassroots project created in 2017. “
Solis launched its platform to collect stories from around the world, from gun control and violence in America to immigration and LGBTQ issues. Her one of her first stories went viral and was enough to monetize. She then left CNN to become a freelancer and focus on BLEND.
Before she could truly learn how to optimize her site, she fell into the trap of thinking that one viral article would support her vision. Quickly realizing that wasn’t the case, she worked odd jobs to pay the bills and keep the platform going while delving into the world of SEO.
Solis shares his top 3 SEO tips for 2023.
Focus on producing EAT content
At Google, our priority is to provide accurate information and answer the concerns of users searching for specific queries, so we value websites that demonstrate Expertise, Authority, and Trustworthiness (EAT). Google always rewards his EAT content with higher algorithm rankings. This type of content includes clear expertise on the topic you are writing about, primary research such as data, polls, charts, case studies, and unique images and videos that add value to your readers.
Write for people, not machines
The biggest mistake new publishers make is overusing keywords in their articles. Doing this too often can lower your ranking on Google and make it look like you’re spamming. Instead of using the same keyword over and over again in your articles, focus on using variations of that keyword.
Also, don’t rely on AI tools to create your content. The content is of poor quality and affects your ranking. AI tools are good at telling someone how to do something, but they can’t show someone how to do something. Focus on quality content with real-life examples. Experts will be more critical next year.
Don’t Ignore Web Critical Issues
Core Web Vitals metrics are a fundamental part of the user experience, so Google’s latest updates make them more important than ever. For example, let’s say you’re trying to leverage SEO to drive organic traffic to your website. In that case, it is imperative that you regularly monitor Google Search Console to identify issues affecting pages on your website. A URL with good Core Web Vitals can give you an edge over your competitors.

Solis currently speaks at panels to help others understand SEO and how to build their own platform. Additionally, she started her SEO marketing company and the platform attracts millions of readers annually.
As she continues to build BLEND, she’s focused on the next important steps.
- Be flexible with your pivots and how you get there.
- Be prepared to work hard, especially if you want to start your own company.
- Feel free to ask questions and seek help from others in the industry.
“You have to motivate yourself to seize the opportunity,” concludes Solis. “I truly believe you are living the life you want. it will happen for me. But you have to motivate yourself to seize the opportunity. They are not going to come to you.
