Google’s John Mueller has accused SEOs and marketing agencies of selling both link building and disavowal link services. He said twitter“These agencies (both creators and deniers) are hoaxes and profit from people they don’t know well.”
John added that it was “all made up and irrelevant”.
Also, when asked if links should be disavowed, John replied yesterday twitter“Don’t waste your time. Go build a site instead.”
Here is a series of tweets. You can see the context in which John is replying.
Ryan Jones rants:
I’m still shocked at how many seo’s regularly disavow links. why? Unless you spam them or take manual action, you’re probably doing more harm than good.

Here is the next chain.
There is no clear direction from Google on what types of links should be disavowed. Even Google caused confusion by saying that blogspots, shady links, and adult site links don’t need to be disavowed.

I personally have never seen such negative seo work in practice. There are no hacks of any kind or problems with links being abused on the site itself.

It’s all a hoax and irrelevant. These agencies (both creators and deniers) are just hoaxes and profit from people they don’t know well.

Pretty strong words from John, don’t you think?
The second part is:
Unless someone placed it with the “intention to manipulate”. However, it is important to know that they are there, as they can affect the site owner’s opinion of relevance and how many links are actually valid.

Don’t waste your time on it. Instead, do building a site.

Just yesterday we covered the topic of disavowing spam porn links and added that Google has been disrespecting disavowed links for some time. In yesterday’s SEO Office Hour Help video, John said, “That said, this won’t position your site the way it used to be, but it will help the algorithms recognize that you can trust your site again, and work with it.” Opportunities are given, up from there.” Based entirely on what he said yesterday and earlier, don’t you think he meant that?
But this is a very powerful language for not caring about disavow files.
