Evernote is a popular and powerful note-taking app available on all major platforms. Its features make it easy to organize your projects with notes and tasks. We’ve received a new feature called Backlinks that our users have been requesting for quite some time.
Evernote has long allowed users to link notes together, but navigating through them only worked forward. I could tap the link to open a new note, but I couldn’t go back. This changes with backlinks, as users can now open notes that link to the note they are currently viewing. This saves you from having to go back to the home screen and search for a specific note.
The new feature is officially described as:
“You can now quickly see and navigate to notes that link to the one you’re currently viewing, making it easier to work with multiple notes. Jump through hoops to find relevant information retrieved No more, you can find what you’re looking for without leaving notes.”
How to use Evernote backlinks:
The first thing to note is that Evernote backlinks are only available for individual, professional, and team customers. This means you need a valid paid plan to use this feature. When it comes to using backlinks, the process is pretty simple and straightforward.
Whenever you’re inside a note that’s linked to another note, you’ll see a new backlink option in the top right corner. It also shows how many notes are linked to the opened note. Tap the option to display a drop-down menu with titles for your note. You can then tap the note name to open it without going to the home screen.
Backlinks are more useful when lots of notes are linked to each other. Now you can go from one of them to another with just one tap instead of going through a long route.
