Louisiana Travel Association Wins Lake Charles Trip At the association’s annual Louie Awards celebration in New Orleans, she won three Louie Awards. Visit Lake Charles has been named 2022 Best Convention and Visitors Bureau, 2022 Tourism Campaign of the Year and Major His Event of the Year. The Louie Awards recognize individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the tourism industry in Louisiana.
This award recognizes exceptional efforts in tourism promotion through events, activities or marketing initiatives and demonstrates proof of return on investment through increased visits. In 2022, Visit Lake Charles will host the PGA Cornferry Lake Charles Championship, US Travel Association’s IPW, 19th Annual American LNG & Gas Summit & Exhibition, Louisiana Travel Summit where he will host an international press conference for 300 journalists. has been held. Visit Lake Charles’ Austin Integrated Marketing Campaign has been named a 2022 Tourism Campaign Award Winner in the $30,000+ budget category. The campaign told the culinary story of Southwest Louisiana through the use of social media, digital advertising, wrapped vehicles, PR and Austin influencers. The result was a 65% increase in website traffic, an 8.5% increase in hotel stays, and an 8.5% increase in food costs.

Ochsner Christus welcomes the pair
Ochsner Christus Health Center-Lake Area Welcomes Husband and Wife Teams Kelly PolkMD, and Emily Polkto the Lake Charles Community, Maryland.
A native of Lake Charles, Dr. Kelly Polk is certified in pain medicine, specifically in the treatment of chronic pain associated with the musculoskeletal system and spine. He earned his medical degree from the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center at his New Orleans School of Medicine, where he also completed an internship and residency, and a pain medicine fellowship. Since his 2019 he is with Ochsner. He is certified in physical medicine and rehabilitation and pain medicine by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He treats patients in his Building G, Suite 1 on the Lake Area campus at 4150 Nelson Road.
Dr. Emily Paulk is a primary care physician and board certified in internal medicine. After earning her bachelor’s degree at LSU, she completed her medical degree at LSU Health Science Center New Orleans School of Medicine. She completed her internal medicine internship and residency at her Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans. She is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. She has been on staff at Ochsner since 2017. Dr. Paulk treats patients at her campus in the lake area of Building G, Suite 5.
Cormier Named Senior Vice President
SWLA Economic Development Alliance/Chamber of Commerce SWLA announced the following: Eric Cormier Appointed to lead the business development efforts of the Alliance/Chamber of Commerce SWLA.
Cormier has been promoted to Senior Vice President of Entrepreneurship and Strategic Initiatives for the Southwestern Louisiana Economic Development Alliance/Chamber of Commerce SWLA.
He oversees the agency’s programs and advocacy for the development of entrepreneurship and small businesses within the five parish areas. He also manages the SEED Center Business He Incubator.
In addition to these responsibilities, Cormier will continue to serve the agency’s economic/community development, government affairs, and strategic communications initiatives.
Cormier began working with the Alliance/Chamber SWLA in 2013 as a Special Project Manager. In 2016, he was promoted to Vice President of Policy and Strategy Development.
Cormier graduated from McNeice State University in 1993 with a degree in Mass Communications. He completed his studies at the Economic Developers Program of the Louisiana Industrial Development Executives Association.
