On July 27th, Google announced that it has begun rolling out the July 2022 Google Product Reviews Update. But a few days later, he didn’t see it affect Google search results until Friday afternoon, July 29th.
Interestingly, most tracking tools are still not up to date with Google Product Reviews updates. However, we’re starting to hear stories of SEOs digging into specific sites and noticing significant changes in rankings.
So it took a few days to start showing results, but now the SEO industry has taken notice.
SEO chatter
There isn’t much chatter on the forums right now, but you’ll see chatter on Twitter over the weekend. The chatter there shows that change is certainly important, but there isn’t much chatter right now.
Vlad Rappoport in PST time was the first to post about the fluctuations I found. twitter “We’re starting to see noticeable volatility as of this morning, probably due to Google’s PRU. Also, some review sites are losing rich snippet stars they’ve previously earned in the latest core update or earlier. You can see that
Yes, rich results can be lost after a core update or product review update.
Glenn Gabe posts what he saw over the weekend.
Below is a screenshot of the visibility changes we just started seeing on the affected sites. We are confident that the tool will show more visibility swings starting tomorrow. Again, GSC and GA show more impact. pic.twitter.com/BnbU1jBEOh

And here are some examples of July PRU-based surges. A significant decrease, but I’m not sure if that’s true… As updates continue to roll out (via quiver), I wouldn’t be shocked to see any changes there. pic.twitter.com/4isWpVZQS3

There’s a bit of chatter in the ongoing WebmasterWorld thread and Black Hat World, but not much yet.
Traffic is booming again today…very unusual for a Friday. This is consistent with the recovery of most of the top 3 terms lost in the last week. A closer look reveals that US and UK traffic has been relatively weak since July 21st. But Canada and Australia seem to be much stronger than I’ve seen in recent months, and so is Germany.
Inquiries only come during these periods of rapid growth. A whole week of traffic drops and then a day or two of traffic spikes is not enough. Sales are down significantly compared to 2021. This is also a mild recession impact, but it’s mostly due to Google. You can lower your prices during a downturn, but without traffic and inquiries, you can’t.
Following the above post, all rankings disappeared this morning.Still nothing in search console, looks fine as site:xxxxxx, but nothing in SERPS
I noticed a significant drop in traffic. About 80-90% of the traffic was gone. Maybe because of the update? I thought it was punishment or something.
We’ve also lost about 50% of our traffic in the last few days. I hope it will recover once the update is complete.
Google tracking tool
Even though SEOs started noticing changes last Friday, we haven’t seen much change in our tools. Here’s what the Google tracking tool showed this morning and over the weekend.
