Military AI developer Kronoid believes it has found a potential solution to war by creating the ultimate AI combat warrior JUNG_E. However, the project has a personal connection with Chronoid’s chief researcher Yoon So-hyun (Kang Soo-young).
And that personal connection leads to an action-packed emotional finale, so let’s delve into it and answer any lingering questions you may have. spoiler If you haven’t seen the movie yet, don’t read any further.
JUNG_E’s ending commentary: Who is JUNG_E?
JUNG_E is revealed early on to be a clone of Seohyun’s mother Yoon Jeong-yi (Kim Hyun-joo), who was a “legendary mercenary” and war hero.
Thirty-five years ago, Jeongyi fell into a coma after a failed mission to the Adria Republic. Kronoid got permission to clone her brain to create the ultimate combat AI. Gives her AI all of Jeongyi’s strengths, but no weaknesses, using only the combat data in her brain.
By creating JUNG_E’s army to end the war, Cronoid aims to make her “the eternal hero of the Allied Forces”. I have failed and am unable to complete the mission.
Seohyun may be working on a project, but she feels guilty that her mother’s cloned brain is in this never-ending cycle of war. The day her surgery was successful was the same day as her mother’s failed mission.
Unfortunately, Seohyun discovers that the cancer has returned and is now terminal. Like her mother, she was able to clone her own brain, but unless she went for Type C where corporations could clone her infinitely for free, her It costs.
During the next simulation test, new areas of JUNG_E’s brain begin to activate. This can be the key to your success. However, before they can explore further, the civil war was ended by an agreement between the Adrian Republic and the Allied Forces.
Seohyun was told to shut down the combat AI program and switch to a housekeeper or service AI. Noticing, Cronoid is eager to take advantage of the “celebrity war hero”.
Seohyun, who believes it is her fault that her deceased mother is in this position, awakens the latest JUNG_E test model and discovers that a new zone in its brain is Jeongyi’s memory. I figured out that the reason JUNG_E keeps failing is that Jung Yi’s brain is distracted thinking about his daughter’s surgery.
In order to “save” her mother, Seohyun removes that part of JUNG_E’s brain and tells the truth about the situation before the final simulation. They try to escape from the facility by pretending that they are dead.
Seohyun helps JUNG_E escape by deleting Jung Yi’s brain data and taking JUNG_E’s brain and putting it in an empty combat AI. That is, you will no longer look like your mother. During their escape, Seohyun is fatally shot by the director of the Cronoid Institute, who is trying to stop JUNG_E’s escape.
A big fight ensues between JUNG_E and the Director (and numerous combat AIs), but JUNG_E wins. AI wants to save Seohyun, but she tells JUNG_E not to worry about her. She tells JUNG_E, who believes Seohyun doesn’t remember her anymore, “She should live only for herself and be free.”
However, when they say goodbye for the last time, JUNG_E rubs his face against Seohyun like a mother. When JUNG_E hears Seohyun’s last words to her “mother”, she runs away.
JUNG_E Available now on Netflix.
