Google’s latest episode find a beginner A series of videos discussing best (and worst) practices for SEO.
As the title of the series suggests, all of the best practices illustrated in the videos involve beginner-level tactics. So you may already be familiar with this.
Also note that Google’s advice in this particular video is intended for business owners, especially those who use their website to sell products.
Here’s a quick summary of the main points of the video.
Google SEO best practices for beginners
“SEO is about using the right words and giving potential customers the right information on your website,” Google says in the video.
You can do this by posting useful information on your website, such as:
- stock
- Selection
- price
- position
- business hours
For product pages, we recommend using images along with descriptions that include keywords such as brand name, color, and product name.

Other, more general best practices include:
- Create short and meaningful page titles
- Use page headings that convey the subject of the page
- Have a detailed “About Us” section with contact information, business description, and countries in which you operate.
- Use descriptive alt text for images

Google’s SEO best practices: what to avoid
In addition to advising site owners on what to do when it comes to SEO, Google points out things to avoid.
Without being too specific, Google is telling site owners to avoid “black hat” techniques designed to fool the indexing algorithms.
“Google has many methods of detecting techniques that attempt to manipulate search rankings. These safeguards help ensure that search results are relevant and accurate for users. , most of these black hat techniques don’t work.”
