A Leicestershire-based SEO start-up is looking to develop its platform and expand its team after raising around £700,000.
Hike SEO has secured £675,000 in co-investment from incumbent investor Jenson Funding Partners in an investment round led by DSW Ventures.
Hike’s DIY SEO platform is designed to help small businesses cost-effectively increase their visibility on Google.
The company was founded by CEO Andrew Allen and CTO Kieran Headley, who worked together as SEO specialists before launching in February 2017. Since then, Hike has grown to over 1,000 customers.
The funds will be used to further invest in the development of the platform and to make major commercial and operational hires.
“This investment will allow us to develop our product and grow our team to enable more small businesses to benefit from the Hike platform.
“This funding round is an exciting new chapter for Hike and a big step towards achieving our business goals.”
Hike also strengthened its board of directors by hiring two more experienced operators. Jim Hodgkins, former managing director of ContentCal, which was sold to Adobe at the end of 2022, has joined the company as chairman.
The founders also secured Deborah Jones, the former chief financial officer of MLS. MLS was a private equity backed software company that was sold to Capita.
DSW Ventures’ Emma Cassidy added:
Weightmans LLP (legal) and Panamoure Consulting (technical) advised DSW Ventures on this transaction, and Founders Law advised Hike SEO.
