Skims, the apparel brand co-founded by Kim Kardashian, has appointed Robert Norton as Chief Commercial Officer, with global expansion in mind.
“I have been a fan of Robert for several years now and believe him to be that rare creative executive who knows how to build both a brand and a business,” said Skims CEO and co-founder. Founder Jens Grede said in a post on the company’s LinkedIn. “We are thrilled to have Robert join the team as we continue to evolve SKIMS into a global retail brand.”
First reported by Women’s Wear Daily, Norton’s appointment builds on decades of retail experience. Norton recently served as president of Italian luxury brand Moncler for about five years. Prior to that, she was CEO of Roberto Cavalli in America, where she worked for Ralph Lauren for over 13 years.
Skims, which sells loungewear, shapewear and underwear, is one of the fastest growing apparel brands online, according to Similarweb’s report this month. The report also named luggage brand Monos and apparel brand Quince as one of the fastest growing companies in the sector, with Skims’ website traffic growing by about 157% in 2022. said.
But Skims is also experimenting with retail beyond e-commerce channels. The brand previously held a pop-up event at The Grove Shopping Center in Los Angeles and signed its first wholesale deal with Nordstrom in January 2020. The website also lists Harrods, Lane Crawford and Selfridges & Co. as suppliers. .
